Situation & Solution
Over the preceding 100 years Bank of the West had grown from a small valley bank into a seven-state bank with hundreds of branches and recognition as one of the largest banks in the West.
When the opportunity to expand into Southern California with the acquision of United California Bank, Bank of the West wanted instant recognition from Hollywood to Lajolla.
Bringing their bear logo, designed twenty years prior, to life seemed like the perfect “celebrity spokes-person” to introduce southern Californians to a great new way to bank.
With this monumental campaign including outdoor, point-of-sale and a newspaper campaign in five languages, the bank exceeded all awareness goals set for this
6-week intro campaign.
